Los Angeles Sealed Bid Auction Training

This article only applies to Los Angeles Sealed Bid Auctions. For information about the regular Los Angeles County tax sales, click here.

Please note, in order to register for a sealed bid auction, you must be invited by the Los Angeles County Tax Collector and Treasurer's Office. Eligible bidders will receive an invitation package by mail.

If you have not received an invitation package, then you are not eligible to register for a sealed bid auction.

Registration

To register for a sealed bid auction, create a GovEase account and then go to Register / Add Auctions. Find the sealed bid auction and click Register.

On the sealed bid auction registration page, scroll down to view the registration requirements. When you attempt to submit vesting information or sign a document, you will be prompted to enter the unique property passcode from your invitation package.

Once you have entered your code, you will be allowed to submit your vesting information and electronically sign the required documents. You will not be allowed to start the registration process until you enter a valid passcode. You must complete all registration requirements before you will be approved to bid.

Once you have completed the online registration, you must submit a deposit for 10% of the amount you would like to spend. For example, if you would like your approval limit to be $10,000.00, you would need to deposit $1,000.00. Contact GovEase support at 769-208-5050 option 2 or support@govease.com for deposit instructions.

Your registration will not be approved until AFTER GovEase receives your deposit.

Bidding

Your registration must be approved in order for you to place any bids.

1. Log in to your GovEase account and click on Auctions on the menu on the left side of the screen.

  1. Select CA - Los Angeles Sealed Bid Auction from the drop-down at the top of the page

3. Once you set the drop-down menu to CA - Los Angeles Sealed Bid Auction, you will be able to see the parcel(s) that you are eligible to bid on. Click on the blue unique number to pull up the parcel detail page.

4. On the parcel detail page, click the Place Bid button.

  1. Clicking the place bid button will open the pop-up window shown below.

  1. Type your bid in the box and click the place bid button. To verify your bid was placed, you can go to "reports" and view the "bidder bid detail" report.

Please note, the highest bid will win. However, you will only be able to see your own bid. You will not know if other bids are placed or if you have been outbid. Since you will not know if others are bidding against you or if you have been outbid, we recommend placing your best and final bid.

You will not know if you are the winning bidder until the bidding closes.

Bidding example:

If the starting amount is $250.00, and you type in a bid of $1,000.00 and then win the auction, you would pay $1,000.00, plus any taxes or fees not included in the starting bid amount.
